I feel for Aaron Rodgers. I wonder how long he will have to endure the overblown, overextended, and exaggerated ego of Brett Farve. In a radio interview with Atlanta’s 790 The Zone, Favre made several statements that could be seen as a underhanded attempt to negate Rodgers’ accomplishments. In the interview Favre stated he wasn’t surprised Rodgers won a Super Bowl. Favre further expounded upon this by saying “the biggest surprise to me would be that he didn’t do it sooner” and that Rodgers “just kind of fell into a good situation.” Farve continued on by complimenting Rodgers’ growth in his role as the starting quarterback.
Is it just me or has Brett Farve run out things to do with his time? I understand radio interviews, special guest appearances, and so on. What I don’t understand is that one of the greatest quarterbacks of the modern era of the NFL has nothing better to do but to diminish the accomplishments of his understudy. This is the same quarterback who had to suffer more than most in the waffling indecision that became expected at the end of every season from Farve. Aaron Rodgers not only suffered, but he did it patiently and with class. Something that Farve needs to take Rodgers’ lead on. Rodgers was drafted in 2005 with the knowledge that he would be the heir apparent for Farve and the Packers. While it took longer than he would’ve liked, he has finally had his chance to shine. Who’s there to throw some mud in his eye the year after his Super Bowl run? Brett Farve that’s who. If it is of any comfort to Aaron Rodgers and the legion of Packers faithful I offer the following. Aaron Rodgers now has the same amount of rings that Brett Farve has. Had it not been an ill advised throw by Farve, Rodgers would’ve had his ring earlier. Thankfully for Rodgers he was rewarded for his patience and class with a championship season. The best part for Packer nation and the rest of us? We don’t have to set up in the coming offseason Indecision 2013: The Aaron Rodgers watch.
